THREE Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Member of Parliament have revealed that disgruntled elements in Narc were trying to mudsling the Odingas family to divert attention from the Anglo Leasing scam.

The three — Owino Likowa (Migori), Ochola Ogur (Nyatike) and Odhiambo Mamba (Uriri) — said during a fund raising for the Migori Agricultural Show that there was nothing sinister in the revival of the Kisumu Molasses plant as it would be a boost to the locals.

The legislators claimed that the land transaction was legally done by Lands Minister Amos Kimunya, who then issued title deed when he was the Commissioner of Lands.

They wondered why Kimunya had now teamed up with those criticising the revival of the project yet he had all the information on the project.

And South Mugirango MP James Magara has urged the Government to stop its selective fight against corruption.

Speaking at the weekend during a free medical camp at Nduru High School and Etago Divisional headquarters, Magara noted that corruption had denied Kenyans quality services due to enormous plunder of public resources.

Noting that selective fight against the graft was counter-productive, the MP noted that it gave culprits an avenue of dragging their communities into personal battles with the Government by alleging that certain tribes were being finished by the establishment.

Magara challenged the Government to tackle the root cause of the vice rather than engaging in cosmetic actions aimed at hoodwinking Kenyans.

The MP said the Government should not relent in the fight against corruption in order to reduce the burden and effects of graft on taxpayers.

He particularly took issue with sentiments attributed to Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs Kiraitu Murungi that “several rituals must be performed before a sacred cow was sacrificed.”

The medical camp which treated over 3,000 area residents was facilitated by over 200 medical personnel drawn from both the public and private sectors including medical students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Nairobi.
